In Germany, Rick Treffers was called ‘the king of melancholy’ or ‘a Dutch version of Erlend Øye with the voice of a young Paul McCartney’. With the catchy pop songs of his project Mist the singersongwriter has been recording and performing in Europe and Latin America over the past 15 years.
As Mist he released over five albums. The most recent one Underwater (Skipping Records, 2017, release March 2017) contains 19 outtakes and rarities: duets with Spanish indie folk singers Alondra Bentley and Maria Rodés, a remix by sound artist Machinefabriek, live takes, covers of The Walker Brothers, Burt Bacharach and Janis Ian and new songs that were left out of The Loop of Love, the album that received raving reviews in Spain, The Netherlands and Germany.
From 2003 to 2009, Mist was internationally acclaimed for their layered, timeless pop and surprised crowds playing festivals such as Haldern Pop (Germany), Metropolis (Holland), Neutral (Chile) and SXSW (USA). In 2015, after having released albums in Dutch and Spanish, Mist returned with the astonishing The Loop of Love.
